The right nutrition for those living with dementia is extremely important. A recent report produced by Alzheimer’s Disease International highlights “dietary factors across the life course that might increase or decrease the risk of onset of dementia in later life. It also details what actions could be taken to improve the nutrition of people with dementia, through diet and external factors such as modifying the mealtime environment and supporting and training carers.” A healthy and balanced diet goes a long way in treating those living with dementia, so much so that a cookbook was launched in Australia to help dementia carers plan exciting and nutritious meals. Each chapter provides advice on nutrition for older people, successful mealtimes for people with dementia, understanding swallowing difficulties and how to prepare and present appetising and nutritious meals.

At Livewell, we focus on sourcing the best quality ingredients for our kitchen and place nutrition at the core of everything we do. We’ve put together a list of great recipes for you to try at home for your loved ones living with dementia.
