Dear Residents, Families, Friends and Colleagues,
I am reminded of a powerful sentence that reads “Don’t think about what can happen in a month. Don’t think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 Hours in front of you and what you can do to get closer to where you want to be.” How applicable these words have been during the past year, not just for Livewell, but also for our families and their loved ones living with the challenges of dementia.
As the days become longer and we experience warmer weather we are reminded, in the quiet space at the end of each day, of yet another Festive Season that is upon us. We all are most certainly looking forward to some sunshine, ice-cream, sandy beaches and of course – gifts!
With the close of the year in the next few weeks, we can’t help but reflect on this year where once again it was evident that we are stronger together and that, with support and quality care, we can indeed provide a quality life for our residents.
Thank you for the opportunity to journey with you as families, residents, friends, and colleagues this past year. We celebrate the continuation of Livewell and the strengthening of our relationships with all of you. It is my privilege to wish you all a blessed Festive Season and Prosperous 2017. I wish you all a wonderful and relaxing period of rest if you are taking leave during this time and please travel safely.
With humility and respect we also wish to call to remembrance the residents who we lost during this year. In quiet solitude we extend our heartfelt condolences and love to those families during this emotional period; may you be consoled in the presence of your family, friends and loved ones.
I leave you with the inspirational words of author and motivational speaker, Mandy Hale, as we take our residents, on another fun-filled year of living a quality life;
“A great Attitude becomes a great day, which becomes a great month, which becomes a great year, which becomes a great life”
Warm Regards, Ivan Oosthuizen
